A home away from home

The name Villa Kay Léo pays tribute to our father, who was deeply attached to his native island.

Born in Trinité, Martinique, Léo left his island for mainland France after passing the customs service entrance exam. It was in Alsace that he met Renée, who would become his wife and who, in turn, fell in love with the island.

Deeply attached to Martinique, to its landscapes, its culture and its way of life, they passed on to us far more than a love for this land: a taste for sharing, conviviality and hospitality.

After many years in Alsace, Léo and Renée chose to retire to Martinique. Léo passed away in 2015. Renée chose to stay on this island, which has become hers too, because life there feels gentler.

It is this spirit and this story that we want to bring to life through Villa Kay Léo: a place to relax, discover Martinique and create wonderful memories.

We are Magali and Fabrice, and our story with Martinique seems to have begun long before we met.

Fabrice was conceived on the island during the honeymoon of his parents, Pierre and Christiane, both from Alsace. Magali is the daughter of Léo, from Martinique, and Renée, from Alsace.

And, as a lovely twist of fate, we were born on the same day, in the same hospital, a few minutes apart. We met in our final year of high school and have never been apart since.

Fabrice soon joined our family trips to Martinique. Alongside Léo, he discovered a more intimate island, sometimes far from the tourist trail, and in turn grew attached to its landscapes, its people and its very special gentle way of life.

Over the years, Martinique has become an obvious choice for us both — a place we love coming back to, to see our family and create new memories.

Today, with Villa Kay Léo, we want to share a little of this story with you and help you discover the Martinique we love so much: authentic, generous and warm.

And perhaps one day, when we retire, we will settle there for good…
